Having an 8 year old keep up with the litter box is a reasonable goal, and it’s reasonable to work in him to get it done, but it’s not reasonable to expect that it will always actually get done. It’s a lesson in responsibility, and the message is what matters.
Better to clean a kitty’s litter box than a baby’s diaper. That they bury their stuff helps take some of the smell away because the deodorized litter is covering it.
