Itâs not even political anymore. âPost-truthâ is a delusion. Itâs hiding from reality, and making things up as you go along. The thing is, the truth of reality, reality-truth, will always assert itself.
If there is a wild animal in your bed, you can pretend that it isnât there. You might feel better, saying that you arenât afraid that it is going to bite you, but until you admit it, that creature will be waiting for you, and your bed will become increasingly crowded. Accept the truth, and you can call animal control and have it removed.
âYou canât kill the truth! Well, actually, you can. But it always comes back to haunt you.â ~ Captain Jon J Sheridan, Babylon 5
a promise â another political jab in a great comic strip and you lose another subscriber â and if you donât care â neither do i(so tired of the stupidity of political comments and abuse on BOTH sides, especially in the âcomicsâ not listed under political âcartoonsâ)
The real problem with all this post truth stuff is that the idea is mainly being pushed by those who before were printing misleading news and are now upset they have been caught. So they are calling their detractors âpost truthâ or âfake newsâ
Political??!? For heavenâs sake, open your eyes. The idea that our society is expected to accept âfake newsâ, âfake truthâ, and âjournalismâ that is solely motivated by bucks is NOT political issue and IS fodder for a medium that reflects and/or skewers the foibles of life.
I agree with the comment above. I think that the real issue isnât so much whether this strip is becoming too âpoliticalâ as it is that oxymorons (emphasis on the MORONS) like âpost-truthâ have actually become a part of modern parlance. That being said, I canât argue that comics are a nice place to escape from such woes âŠ
