I remember as a kid what an onerous chore I had: empty the house wastebaskets and take the trash to the curb. Two-story house, 6 wastebaskets plus the kitchen garbage. Oooooohhhh, the agony. And don’t even mention the litterbox (which I was better at, having an immediate and obvious penalty)!
This shows how hard is to show sarcasm in written form. If not by the “right, in a decade or so” line, it would totally pass me by that he is angry at his parents.
