My second semester in college I had all my finals on a Monday, the last day of classes was on Weds. Tuesday morning I woke up and started my day, but while I was getting dressed I suddenly doubled over in pain. I realized almost immediatly that my abdominal hernia had stranglulated and managed to call 911 and get to the hospital where my self diagnoses was confirmed and I was scheduled for an emergency hernia repair operation that afternoon. Due to complications I ended up in a 2 month coma and didn’t wake up until the day before Valentines day (I went in for the surgery December 15th). Once I got back to school I joked with my teachers that if things had been different and they’d planned to have the finals on Weds instead of Monday I would have had a great excuse.
I’m not making excuses, I’m saying what happened. If you accept it as reasonable it may become an excuse. If you don’t care why should I? It’s still what happened.
