I’ve only been fired once as a staff architect in a big firm… and my next job, 2 weeks later, was as a government contractor with a 2-year renewable contract to do project quality reviews. Guess what firm’s project was the first one across my desk… SWEET!

Yep, he didn’t but one point to be taken is that the younger person probably couldn’t imagine sitting at anything other than a computer…
