RE:humormehereās comment. Iagree with one exception. Heās acartoonist. Itās his job to make things up. Now, I would agree that the network reporters should make up nothing.
Iām confused, are we āmaking things upā as in making up an excuse to go to war in the first place or were you referring to āmaking things upā as in you want to avoid the fact that there are real consequences to making up reasons to go to war?
Ever use Google, humormehere? Hereās a story from the NYT on Iraqi refugees in Syria turning to the sex trade: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/29/world/middleeast/29syria.html
Trudeau does more research than most TV ājournalistsā.
That statement is such delusional, self-righteous and revisionist history it is almost laughable. But what is not funny is that had we actually gone to Iraq for humanitarian reasons, we would actually have been affirming American values instead of adding to their deterioration.
Seriously, when did the war effort ever care about the Iraqi people ā¦
āFar be it from the NYT to hire unethical reporters.ā
Oh. I see. But of course: The world is just one giant huge tremendous left wing conspiracy and you and the entire right wing philosophy is squarely in the sights of a madcap cultural revolution bent on taking away your god, your guns and your rights.
Yes, you have figured it out: the āleftā just wants to make sure everyone can run around in their āroos underwear, kiss as many people as possible and take illicit drugs at will.
If there really is a left-wing conspiracy, or a gay agenda, I sure wish someone from either one would get in touch with me, because Iād love to be part of either one, or even both. But alas, so far, nobody has even sent me an email.

You want a cabal of successful conspirators, just go to the Catholics. According to some (like Dan Brown), they ran a conspiracy for centuries, with almost nobody suspecting. With the inquisition, they killed 50 or 100 million persons (out of a total population over those centuries of some 20 or 30 times that much?) without causing an outcry. And yet, they were incompetent to run the Papal States. Go figure.

I like Doonesbury. I am confident enough in my āconservatismā to enjoy a potshot or two. After all, I give them out. Allās fair, right?
But I do wish we wouldnāt just make things up.

Some pretty heady and heads up comments here today, I like that part; just too bad some of them go astray chasing their various political agendas.

I bet you say that to all the boys.
After all, every liberal knows that it was all about the oil and revenge for daddy Bush.
I rest my case!
Winston Churchill had it right when he said:
āIf youāre 20 and not a liberal, you have no heartā¦?
If you are 40 and not a conservative, you have no brainā
If you have ten thousand regulations, you destroy all respect for the law.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.
BirishB about 16 years ago
you need to do some homework, Desultory.
Go learn what a liberal democracy is (hint: America)
Go learn what socialism is (hint: liberalism is not socialism)
Go learn what Teddy Roosevelt was all about (hint: conservatism)
Finally, go learn what āred herringā and āstrawmanā are (hint: Iraq 1 is a red herring argument and socialism is a strawman argument)
