Corey seems to have this fixation on sharks and Dr. Phil. What’s this Dr. Phil person anyhow? It’s either “Phil” or “Dr. McGraw”. If the guy has a doctorate, it’s the former. If he doesn’t have a doctorate from someplace other than a diploma mill, he needs to drop the title.
If anyone deserves the title “Dr.” in this strip, it’s either the guy from the local hospital who makes regular cameos, or Banks himself.
Roger,
Maybe I’ve misinterpreted your criticism, but Dr. Phil calls himself that…http://www.drphil.com/shows/
Also, “Jumping the shark” is a fairly common slang term. You can Google it.
Please accept my apologies if I’ve misjudged the intent of your statements.
Ray C - you didn’t misinterpret at all, I was directing the criticism toward “Dr.” Phil himself. The doctors I know and respect burned a lot of midnight oil and did without a real life for a long time to earn the title… and Phil McGraw, near as I’ve been able to discover, has not. The ones I know and respect only use the title in a formal context… otherwise, they’re just “John” or “Kirsten” or “Robert” (etc.) to their friends.
and I was just joking about “jumping the shark”. I know it’s a common slang term, and what it means… but it’s getting almost as worn out as “outside the box”.
Right on all counts, Roger.
Won’t it be great next week, when we won’t have to hear about the “failed policies of the Bush administration” or the “socialism and redistribution of wealth” of an Obama administration?

I’d dress up as Banks for Hallowe’en, but I’m the only one I know personally who would recognize it.

Or go as something even more horrible and go as a “Bank”

The phrase I’m really getting sick of is “…and I approved this message.”

Yeah, that one won’t be missed either.

Maybe Banks should dress as a human for Halloween. Not as any particular person, just a generic human.
