I finally planted the dang trees after wishing for years I already had—and had such a good time I planted more. Now they’re one to four years old and I’ve gotten cherries like you’ll never find in a store, perfect peaches (and the flavor!) with juice running down our hands in the summer sun, mandarin oranges, apples, 54 figs in the second year, a new pomegranate tree that can’t wait to fruit…and a Comice pear tree that will get around to it when it’s good and ready and not a moment before.
