I drove an ice cream truck as a summer job one year – 1966 I think. It wasn’t pleasant. Mad mothers screamed at me for distracting their children (and waking them up @ 11AM?). Also criticized me for the “high” prices. And I had to pay for the first 6 gallons of daily gas – darn truck never burned more than that.
Hearing the music, sitting on the curb, waiting and then popsicle! We moved when I was 9 to a new neighborhood that didn’t have the ice cream trucks, but we could walk 1/2 mile to a drugstore with a soda fountain.
also the new place had lots of fields and hedgerows, and trees to climb, and I got to get my dog. Who was my companion while exploring the fields and pretend games of being a wagon train kid, a mystery solver, or Jeff and Lassie-Timmy and Lassie or the kid with RinTinTin.This makes me miss my childhood so much. Most of it anyway.

I would hate driving the ice cream truck. Can you imagine listening to that jingle all day long?
