Dogs really need to be with others, and to feel part of a group/tribe/family. Verne, you can swim in that pool all day and keep the poor guy company.

Don’t get too close or you risk a slobbery glomp.

Now that is sad, because it is true.

That’s why I have 2 dogs and a cat. They are each other’s best buds, and support system. Of course, the cat IS the boss…

My red-nose pit is also quite needy, he wants to be a lap dog. His adopted sister is a Staffordshire terrier and she’s bigger than him. They both love belly rubs and to have their butts scratched.

We’ve always had rescue Border Collies. One was Mr. Confident, best dog in the world. His buddy died and we got another companion who was afraid of EVERYTHING. They were together five years. When our Mr. Confident passed suddenly in March, Mr. "Fraidy lost the happy dance he used to do in the morning and while he was waiting to come back inside. It took us a few months to find another good buddy, but Mr. ’Fraidy has his happy dance back. Yes, many need more than just humans in their lives.

The beaver is taking over the strip. And when he does, they’re going to change the name from “Over the Hedge” to “Over a Cheever”

When I was a kid, our Westie ‘adopted’ and raised a tiny black kitten. Mom could put the dog out in the morning, tell her to go find the cat, and a bit later there’d be a scratch at the front door and both dog & cat would be there waiting.
