How does one even get barred from a new establishment without it being opened yet?
Aye sure and his reputation preceded him,and the opening of the pub.
Obviously his reputation precedes him.
A legend in his own time.
word gets around and it isn’t always good.
The owner of the new pub has obviously studied military strategy and is making a preemptive strike to avoid a prolonged conflict.
Off topic comment:
Dodged a bullet here in East Texas when Hurricane Harvey came onshore and weakened to a Category One with winds of “only” 85 mph. The problem now is that they think it’s going to sit down and make heavy rains for days, causing catastrophic flooding.

I think “The Andy Capp Arms” would be a great name for a pub. A picture of Andy holding two pints would make a good sign.
British pubs certainly have some interesting names. Quite creative.
