Andy: Kids, I really need you to help clean up the house this week. Peter: Why? Andy: Because your grandmother's coming and it's important that it's spotless when she gets here. Peter: Why? Andy: Well, because otherwise she'll take it upon herself to clean the whole house for us, and we don't want that. Peter: Speak for yourself. Andy: I said, we don't want that! Peter: Look, just because you have "issues" Jason: I've let my room get extra messy on purpose.

Ai! Guys just don’t understand. When a man’s mother is around he reverts back to being a child, when a woman’s mother is around she’s so desperate to prove she’s a grownup that she nearly kills herself!

If thats what makes your mother “Happy”, then let go unless its unhealthy for her.

Yeah, let her do it if it makes her happy and it sounds like it would. Give her purpose!

unless she makes comments the whole time. That is what Andy is trying to avoid. My Grandmother would try and clean when she came to visit, by she wouldn’t make the unpleasant comments tho. My brother would go along behind her ‘Grandma, your a guest. Stop doing our chores.’ Our Mom would laugh. :)

On Rhoda, when her mother came to visit, she (mother) would dust the lightbulbs. What’s scary is, Rhoda could tell!

Ejcapulet, that’s an interesting and unfair stereotype. My wife doesn’t clean before her mother visits and tells her to deal with it and not make any comments. I, a guy, do most of the cleaning in our house on a daily basis and when people visit (including my mom). Otherwise, I’m not sure when anything would get cleaned.
