Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
1. This is the last appearance of aging rocker Dirk. He is the last character to make an actual appearance in the Molly / Gayle / Dirk saga as Molly and Gayle had their last appearance some months ago. Goodbye Dirk. I can genuinely say that Dirk is by far the most polite aging rocker I have ever seen in a comic strip and it’s sad to see him go.
2. Having an aging rocker staying at my home until 10:00 every night is not my idea of good parenting. Molly is 15 years old and under the age of consent in Canada, so you would think that would be enough to keep her away from an adult male. Also, Molly is in school and probably has homework to do instead of spending every evening with her boyfriend. That would be excuse enough for me to kick Dirk out. Connie’s excuse is that she has to put up with Dirk, because the only way to keep Molly from getting in trouble from Dirk to have them both together where they can be watched. So, not only does Connie not trust Molly, but she has little regard for Molly’s common sense.
I introduced this rather ominous character “Dirk” to give both my readers and myself a break from the “sweetness” of the Patterson family. I wanted to inject a bit of creepiness into the mix.
No matter Dirk’s age, 15 year-old hormones are raging, and I’ll bet Dirk’s are, too. As someone else said, 15 year-olds have NO common sense and very limited life experience. I like the idea of chaperoned dates at home.

Til 10:00 isn’t that horrible. It’s from 10 til 2 that I’d be worried about.

@HOWTHEDUCK If this is Dirk’s last (and seemingly random) appearance, why did Lynn just throw him in here?

Lynn’s Notes:
I introduced this rather ominous character “Dirk” to give both my readers and myself a break from the “sweetness” of the Patterson family. I wanted to inject a bit of creepiness into the mix.

What was with creepy boyfriends always named “Dirk???” Both here and in Luann (Toni’s ex).

Can’t these two just celebrate the moments of their lives and talk about Jean Luke instead???
