I didn’t understand this comic until I read the comments. But then, I have never seen a firefly. They don’t exist here.
He is looking kinda dim.
I was guessing it was a terminal termite.

he’s in hospital because he’d been blacking out…
I haven’t seen a firefly for years. Someone said that it was all of the spraying for mosquitos that has decimated the fireflys.
