I’m in SE Connecticut, and Jose is lingering off the coast. The slight jog to the east means we are not getting the tropical-storm 50+ kt winds I prepared for, but a ho-hum maybe 30-35 and lots of rain. It feels kinda weird to hope for a direct hit, if only to justify all the preparation! “Pray for sunshine, but prepare for rain,” yeah, yeah.
There was a hurricane years ago that hit Texas. They said many of the deaths were the direct cause of bumper to bumper traffic during the evacuation. Things like heat-stroke and health problems that were made worse by the conditions of sitting in traffic so long. I think the only people who should evacuate are those in mandatory evacuation zones and/or mobile homes. I was in a zone that was not evacuated during Irma so we stayed and were fine. Only lost power for a few hours. I had neighbors leave anyways and it took them days to finally get back home due to the roads being blocked and the traffic. Waste of time.

Not scary enough. How about ‘Apocalypse’, ‘Bad-thing’, and ‘Holy Cow’?
