Actually an electric worm harvester is quite simple to make but is somewhat dangerous to use.You have to be careful that you don’t touch the probes when it’s plugged in or turned on.The one my Dad made didn’t have a switch. It consists of a plug, a length of two conductor cord, a lamp socket with a ~40 to 60 watt 120v lamp bulb, two wooden handles, two 12" rods.Wire the lamp into the hot lead going to one rod with a handle and the other rod and handle to the other side of the plug.To harvest worms just insert the two rods into soft, moist soil where you suspect worms reside and plug the cord. The lamp should glow fairly brightly depending upon soil moisture and distance between the rods.DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE COMPONENTS WHILE THIS IS ENERGIZED!!! Trust me, it hurts! And can kill you.Any worms in the vicinity of the rods will come up to the surface, completely out of the ground within about a half an hour.Again, keep all children and pets away from this while energized.
