If memory serves that’s Sam dressed as jolly old Saint Nick. Sedine’s dad would have made a good Santa, he’s got the gut and the generosity! Not to mention the jolly attitude, maybe he was modeled after Santa Claus! XD

I think Sedine would have made a better Krampus.

Wonder if any of the trick-or-treaters are amongst that madding throng.

How little Sedine knows… DALEKS OF THE ICE, more commonly known as the Christmas Daleks: A branch of the Dalek race which split off from the main community 1,000 years ago. The Christmas Daleks were actually the first to encounter Earth during the Advent season and attempted to exterminate the humans. In one of the most startling examples of bad timing in galactic history, these Dalek vanguards arrived on Dec. 24, as Santa Claus was making his first-ever run with the services of the flying reindeer. With no knowledge of the full capabilities of Rudolph’s nose, the Daleks were easily rendered harmless. (Reportedly, even The Doctor offered his assistance, but was told simply, “Thanks, but we got this.”) However, instead of destroying the invaders, Santa turned them over to his elves for assimilation. It is a little-known fact that the Christmas Daleks are in charge of Santa’s black ops division (the “naughty” list), heading out on their own separate Christmas Eve run while Santa diverts attention toward himself and the toys. (Why do you think he wears the red suit?) The Christmas Daleks are easily distinguished from the remainder of the Dalek community by their red and green lights, and their rallying cry of Coal-i-fi-cate! Coal-i-fi-cate! Coal-i-fi-cate…

I’ll just break down what’s in the establishing shot in Panel #1 today, that’s where 90% of the action is …

    - At least twenty separate civilians, not counting Sedine and Santa: This includes “Shadow People” who aren’t fully rendered.

[ If you prefer to include only background figures with some degree of individual detail, then the number stands at a still-pretty-danged impressive thirteen. ]

    - The ‘“D”-With-Crossed-Knife-And-Fork’ logo makes an appearance on the back of someone’s jacket today: “Super-Secret Symbol Sighting~!!” :)

    - At least two Christmas Trees: The top of the second one can be glimpsed towards the middle left, beneath the cursive letters.

[ Did you know they apparently don’t teach cursive writing in schools now? Even though they did back in my day, I’m still not 100% certain what those letters spell out. Little help, guys? ]

    - One giant candy cane: “Stripey!”

    - You’ll have little trouble locating Santa, thanks to the helpful “Santa” sign suspended between two “North Poles.”

    - The long, long ramp up from the lower level to the aforementioned Mr. Claus.

    - Santa. [ ’Natch! ]

    - Sedine. [ Also ’natch! ]

    - Three wrapped packages.

    - Two reindeer.

    - One snowman.

That is a whole lot to unpack. (\/)

Santa’s nose sure looks familiar …

That isn’t “The Hubbs” behind that beard, is it?

Bea, you need to find someone to manufacture Sedine “Christmas Dalek” plushies – Though you couldn’t call them that in the marketing, or the BBC would want their cut of the take.

Oddly, Sedine’s pose reminds me less of a Dalek than of Diana Ross …
