Are we talking the same exact job with the same employer? Or are we talking different jobs and different employers? I know a union will prevent this. In my job at a Nuclear power plant it was actually reversed discrimination. The women who had union jobs, say in mechanical maintenance never had to get down in the grease and actually turn the wrenches. They were assigned the debris control monitor job, sitting outside the work zone, logging in anything that entered. The women in the Instrument and Control tech jobs, some of them, would always say they were not on birth control to ensure they didn’t have to enter the radiation zones and would get the jobs outside the containment building.

As for salary jobs, the pay is always determined by one on one negotiation with the employer. Jennifer Lawrence, due to the Sony email hack, found out how much she was underpaid next to the male stars in her jobs. She learned she had to be a hard negotiator and is now paid what she is worth.

Too bad all women don’t have hackers helping them learn what men are making. If only it were that simple. I doubt the men negotiated all that hard. They were probably offered the higher amount automatically.
