Chiming in on the reminiscing from yesterday, I was born in ’84, so The NExt Generation was current as I was growing up, but the same channel showed both Next Generation and the Original, so I got my share of both. In fact, as I recall they would do a marathon of Star Trek at least once a year, I want to say around/on the 4th of July, good times
I’ve been a “Trekker” since September 8, 1966. And I learned how to give estimates to my bosses from Scotty. Tell them it will take 3 times as long as you know it will and look like a miracle worker.
I’ve been a huge TOS (the original series) fan since the early 70s. One of the millions who found it in reruns. Shatner I can take or leave. All the rest I very much like. (not a Roddenberry fan either – he was not a nice person IMO)
I am a Trekker from way back to the beginning of Star Trek and before since I had seen both William Shatner & Leonard Nimoy on verious shows separate and together along with George Takei, Gracy Lee Whitney & James Doohan on VTTBOTS, Outer Limits and Twilight Zone before ST.
Went to a Star Trek convention in the 70’s – that was so cool back then. The show was really pushing limits, and yes – loved Nimoy in Mission Impossible as well. Shows were such a blast – literally!
When I told my friends in elementary school that “Scottie” could refer to a Scotch terrier, they cracked wise about getting beamed up by the wrong guy.
I saw James Doohan at a convention years ago. Someone asked him what it was like working with Shatner. His words “I don’t want to talk about it. Please don’t ask me again.”

Not a trekkie, but Shatner is and was good, he paid some dues to get where he is today.
