Alice: C'mon, Dill! You've got to try it! Dill: What if it makes him mad? Beni: Try what? Alice: Dill can hear things far away with his hat. I told him to listen to Santa Claus! Beni: Yes! You've got to! Dill: Okay, I'll try. Stand back. Noise: GGGNNNNNNNGGG... Alice: What did you hear? Santa? Beni: What was he doing? Dill: Oogh. No. Not Santa - Just a lot of adults talking in conspiratorial whispers. Alice: I knew it! They're up to something dire. Beni: Like always.

Poor Dill!

At least Alice and Beni haven’t yet been exposed to the Adult Santa Conspiracy! Poor Dill; I hope he recovers, even if by forgetting all he heard.

That’s odd. I bought a hat like Dill’s for my cat to wear on Halloween. Now he’s got Lynn Foama.

Yeah, I always thought my folks were up to terrible, frightening, interesting things after they made us go to bed at 9 pm. Now I know what they were doing: Dishes, mostly.

Dill’s hat looks like something a jester (or an Italian harlequin) would wear.

Maybe he is picking up a soap opera episode. That would explain his condition.

It’s not depressing. Dill just can’t hear that far. The North Pole is a loong way off. Those pesky adults just get in the way.
