I don’t get the China connection - I see schools all around cutting back on days and laying off teachers, with Universities no longer accepting students at the winter break, all due to budget cuts. I always associate that with domestic tax cuts more than competition from China.
China, preparing for the future, has made education a national priority. They are investing heavily in schools while we are cutting back. Thinking long term has benefited them greatly and an educated populace will force change in their political system. Our short term political cycle thinking is foolish and destructive.

We keep dumbing down education while they ensure students are prepared for future success. It’s not just tax cuts, either. We have a group of people determined that students not learn any history/facts/science beyond studying Normal Rockwell paintings.
Whatever GC might be doing to discourage these spammers doesn’t seem to be working. I’m guessing they have caught on to the fact that GC does not have anyone pulling them down on the weekend.
Actually, I wounldn’t be surprised if in, let’s say, thrity years from now, China is in an economic mess. For the same reason as we do now.
Just imagine in 2030, when the last generation before the one-child policy hits retirement (if it exists there); many old people, few people (especially few females) to take care of them.
There will be a “limited” World War that will re-set everything. Capitalism will be the catalyst and it will begin with a war at sea over disputed land and sea rights.

Maybe a comment on outsourcing? You graduate from school and find the jobs are all offshore?
Except then, it would say US colleges, wouldn’t it?

I don’t get it either. In homes the Chinese drywall has been a big story but schools probably don’t use fragile drywall.

Mostly agree, ODon. I am not convinced that change will be forced so easily.
