In my case it is a friend to whom I have given my recipes. When I can’t find them(in the middle of cooking for company) a panic call goes out to her. Always nice to have a back-up.
I never figured how my wife was a good cook. Her mother did all the cooking at home and her father was a professional cook. Her “audition piece” was great, even though it was her first alone. At least I had plenty of practice before my “audition”. After sixty years, we are both quite competent.

That is what my daughters did when my wife was alive but now that she is gone, they manage to ‘muddle thru’ on their own ! ! !
