Yes and no, Abbs. It’s good for them to speak up…when they actually have something worthwhile to speak up about. The lady at the pool certainly didn’t. She was just complaining for complaining’s sake.
That is a good point Abby but your husband needs you to support him not the people who falsely accuse him. They need to pay attention to what is actually happening, not jump in the middle and assume they are right undermining parental authority! Counselor!
When my best friend and her two sons came to visit, I got a sense of how she disciplined. Well, it was my house, my rules. The youngest decided to throw the crayons. I told him that if he did that one more time, they would be taken away. He tested me. He learned not to test aunty. I followed through. Parents that actually follow through are the ones that will always get my respect. I do remember a few years ago, a mother told her daughter that if she didn’t behave, she wouldn’t get the bookbag that they had. She tested her mother, her mother followed through. And I told her, good.

False accusations are just wrong. Why should Len end up in trouble just because some lady didn’t analyze before she accused?
