Have never seen one of those guys except on tv or a movie or a comic strip. They usually wear better clothes and have a tv show. I like the linguistic analysis. And yes it is all very archaic.
This is hilarious … cracked me up. I would add, though, that here in the good ol’ U.S. of A., the expression more accurately goes, “The wages of sin is wealth.”

If someone wages war it’s not a noun. Wage sin, not war.
