Like George Carlin once said something to the effect he was planning carefully when he dies he want everything to balance out to zero, no assets, no debts, no fights among the family, etc…that would be my ideal goal too!

I and my brothers wrote a list of the top ten things we wanted. We pretty much all wanted the same things but in different orders. There was only one conflict and we resolved it with cutting the cards.

I was executor and passed it on to my brother as he had more time and I had taken care of our parents for 3 years and that was enough. I had to sign a bunch of papers because no one would believe I would do that! People are just walking bags of greed.

Simple solution: have only one child. (Our son has been embarked on a crusade to help us declutter for a few years now; whatever we don’t throw away now, he’ll have to have carted away later.)

After my step mom died I told my dad he should take a lot of old returned checks they kept for 20 years in boxes out to my brothers and start burning them as he did not need them. He said oh that will give you kids something to do after I am gone.
