My uncle told me that once when I told my mom I couldn’t eat my peas because they were mixed with my mashed potatoes my uncle who was over for supper that time said “oh, for cryin’ out loud it all goes to the same place ” after that I didn’t worry about it anymore.
My favorite version was near the end of Monk when his father is visiting, and they are eating in a cafe–his father is pouring out his heart to his long-lost son, and Monk replies, “It’s touching”–meaning his food, of course…
