A dog is more effective at detection, and smarter than folks who worry more about “exposure” than losing their rights. There is a difference between passive security and overt searches.
As to not “having” to fly- wait ‘till some nut threatens a grocery store and you have to scan a bar code BEFORE you shop for bread and eggs.

^ Baslim’s article was excellent. I think commercially made PETN has a odor added. But I guess a terrorist would use the black market stuff.
