I sure ‘tis not Dad’s, but rather the kids’.

Who knows, right?
Since that seems to be a rhetorical question, I won’t answer.
Well, I have no idea who would really know,
but to me, Elliot’s own “Bored-O-Meter” seems upside down.
Wouldn’t “Super bored”, “crazy bored”, and all be high on the scale,
and “Way down here” mean less so?
So I’d just say, "Great, Elliot! I’m glad you’re not all that bored!
Problem solved!"
Maybe figuring out what I mean would give him a little something to do.
I’m probably not as sympathetic as some would wish, anyway, cos I don’t really “get” boredom.
I’m never actually “bored” … even doing nothing is an opportunity to think and daydream.
I agree that some things are tedious…
and sometimes we have to do them.
Like… waiting for the bus, or the dentist… work, including housework or homework that doesn’t interest us.
Learning to engage, to throw ourselves into it and see what we can learn, or how we can do it better,
or even just how we can do it faster and be finished…
helps alleviate the tedium.
But Elliot says he’s “bored” with nothing to do,
when an empty stretch of time is a precious gift…
There’s always something to do, read, see, or think about.
Elliot, you shouldn’t want someone to tell you what to do…
Enjoy the freedom to crank up your imagination, follow your curiosity, and polish your own gifts.
