Dig a little and you might just find a record player or a reel-to-reel tape recorder.

I still use 2 devices. My phone is heavier and more expensive than the cheapo MP3 player I use. Since I use the player mostly when doing yard work, why risk dropping the costlier device?

I didn’t need a fax machine. My old iMac was able to send and receive them digitally.
