heart: hey, mom....that new wizz dizzy movie just came out on cable, and we can rent it for $4.95! mom: Why would we pay $4.95 for one new movie when we already pay over $200 a month for HDTV and have hundreds of free movies to pick from? heart: because those hundreds of movies all stink, which is why the one good one costs $4.95! don't you know how tech works, mom?

This strip is referring to Star Wars and the actual people making it all the time, but uses a fake name substitute for “Walt Disney”?

$200 a month?!?! Kick their heinie to the curb RIGHT NOW!! There’s sure to be much more value to be had for that kind of money. Just think of all the DVDs you could buy, or even blu rays.

Sheesh, you can get Netflix, Hulu AND Amazon Prime for less than that!

When the monthly TV cost went over $100 I cancelled it. Cable companies’ greed will put them out of business. Of course with net neutrality ending they will now be able to censor your Internet and block those cheaper competing streaming companies, so maybe they’ll be around for a while longer after all.

Your taxes support your public library. Get your money’s worth and borrow movies from the public library, and kill the cable.

This is why I cut the cord two years ago. I’m now on Playstation Vue, $40/month. And an HD antenna for the local channels.
