    I’ve been there, Fred.

I particularly recall walking across the Mackinac Bridge as a small child (it’s a big once-a-year thing). Part of the roadway is (or at least was, back then) a grating, and even though there was no chance of my feet slipping through as Fred’s might here, I looked through that grating at the water some 200 feet (61 meters) below
. I still get queasy thinking about it.

Really like it when they rebuilt the ‘Sunshine Skyway’ across the entrance to Tampa Bay—nice solid concrete roadway rather than steel grating—did not like driving on the grating ! ! !

There is a suspension bridge in Wheeling with grating and it always makes me feel like the car is going to slide off.

Fred just be glad you don’t have to walk the Catwalks of an Aircraft carrier, with 30 knots of wind over the deck in bluewater ops.

I don’t understand the “don’t look down” advice. If you don’t look down, you are likely to misstep.
