I particularly recall walking across the Mackinac Bridge as a small child (itâs a big once-a-year thing). Part of the roadway is (or at least was, back then) a grating, and even though there was no chance of my feet slipping through as Fredâs might here, I looked through that grating at the water some 200 feet (61 meters) belowâŠ. I still get queasy thinking about it.
Really like it when they rebuilt the âSunshine Skywayâ across the entrance to Tampa Bayânice solid concrete roadway rather than steel gratingâdid not like driving on the grating ! ! !

There is a suspension bridge in Wheeling with grating and it always makes me feel like the car is going to slide off.

I donât understand the âdonât look downâ advice. If you donât look down, you are likely to misstep.
