I’m getting kind of tired of these “twofer” Sundays. Both of these jokes are fine, but either one would work equally well Monday through Saturday. C’mon, Mike, even on a single-panel gag strip, the broader canvas of a Sunday installment can support something more ambitious!
Y’ know what I really miss? Back when I first started following “Cornered” on this site, they were “animated”; there’d be a second drawing which was slightly different from the first, and it would change from one to the other as you watched. The frying pan gag would have been especially gorgeous if the flames flickered.
I don’t know why he stopped doing that. Of course it’s something that wouldn’t work on newsprint, but it made this strip stand out…
