Um…for you to be looked at as a genius, there has to be someone left to do the looking, doesn’t there?

There were other calender’s too. And the Long Count wasn’t what was counting down to disaster.

The Ch’orti’, indigenous Mayas, believed “an eclipse of the sun that lasts more than a day will bring the end of the world, and the spirits of the dead will come to life and eat those on earth,” she wrote in an email, drawing on her book, “Star Gods of the Maya: Astronomy in Art, Folklore, and Calendars.”

If it wasn’t the Spaniards ruling it was the Aztecs ruling. And have you forgotten that it was actually the enslaved by Aztecs tribes that brought down the Aztec civilization not the small number of Spaniards they were allied with. Also it was well after, that the missionaries started converting the native people.

You could say that. Or “a lose-lose.” Either way, it didn’t happen!

(Just ran out of space on the stone….)

What is constantly missed is that if the Spanish, English, French and Dutch had come to the Western Hemisphere as non-hostel merchants, the result would have been the same. The introduction of cows, pigs, horses and other domesticated animals as well as the people themselves would have resulted in the plagues that devastated the indigenous population.
