Early this morning hackers got into my account at GoDaddy and changed my password, user name, and account information. Fortunately I was up earlier than usual and we were able to catch them before they could transfer anything other than my main domain, CNX.COM, where my E-mail is hosted and my blog is posted.
E-mail to me and to Her Maj will probably be disrupted for a few days while we sort this out.
While anonymous is the obvious suspect (again, if it was you guys, this week is meant lovingly) I have reason to believe it might be linked with another site, conservativecave.com which has a dedicated cadre of people who hate me, repost my material without permission, and who recently started a campaign to brand me a plagiarist before I intervened legally.
Even if the strip’s main domain ends up going down, I will make sure it stays up here at GoComics, so disruption for fans will be minimal.
Well, it looks like GoDaddy wants six pieces of documentation to even consider getting my domain name back, so it looks like it might be lost for good. It astounds me how they’ll want six forms of ID to undo an unauthorized transfer, but can’t be bothered to ask for ONE to INITIATE it.
I’ve had that domain name for 16 years, and resisted the urge to sell it back during the craze for three-letter domain names.

I HATE that GoDaddy did that to you (as I know it is based here in Phoenix) . I originally thought of using them-now glad I did not, others were less cost which is major to me.

They hate me because I’ve filed DMCA notices on them running the comic strip and other essays of mine on their site and its predecessor site.
