We had comics as kids. As an adult before my son was born, I began buying comics again when I was perusing a newstand in Georgetown DC and came across an issue of Elfquest 1 (Wendy & Richard Pini – WaRP Graphics.) Once my son was old enough to read (he learned in Kindergarten) we would go comic shopping together. Going into comic shops as an adult female was an interesting thing – most of the store owners knew me by name. I had a subscription box at one particular store. Since he knew what I usually read, the owner would often drop new things into my box for me to consider. Great sales tactic on his part. He died. Store closed, and I still miss the camaraderie and personalized service.

Mrs.Mc is definitely cool, especially under fire. Look how she handles Sterling. And she’s redheaded, so that, too.

My mom encouraged me to read comic books to increase my reading skills.
