It is true that NASCAR has had a very difficult time attracting millennials. I think all that tinkering including introducing a ten-race playoff and breaking each race down to three stages isn’t helping. This is why I’m sticking to Formula 1 where at least black drivers like Lewis Hamilton are treated with respect (and he’s even won the driver’s title to boot) and they don’t have a “good old boy” atmosphere that’s hostile to minorities and women (Danica Patrick being literally ran out on a rail from NASCAR by male chauvinists like Richard Petty anyone?).

I can’t get into NASCAR. Cars running in circles just doesn’t do it for me. Now if they got back to their moonshine roots (routes?) that would be interesting. I’ve ridden Moonshiner 28 (aka NC28) from Deal’s Gap to Walhalla, SC and that would make an interesting race. Of course that would be more like the Mille Miglia or Targa Florio.

NASCAR is just a delusion of control, like speed skating, and waiting for the pileup. They need to pull the blacktop and put in 2 feet of mud.
