Everyone has encountered people like that vendor at one time or another. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to someone like that. Fortunately they warmed me about him before the meeting took place, so I was ready for him. I was told that at some point in the conversation, he would point to the floor and ask “Is that spot on the floor that I see the same spot that you see?” And no matter what answer you gave, he would take the opposing view. Sure enough, after we had talked for a while, he sprung the question. I looked him right in the eye, said “Who the hell cares?” and walked out of the room. He never pulled that on me again. Years later I was telling the story to someone else and they said "You should have asked “What floor?”
