If you haven’t gotten the word yet we are meeting in the Comments Section of the Annie Archives. We are reading one day’s strip at a time each day and sort of pretending that we’re reading it for the first time each day. Today we are at January 12, 2002. We will always be on the same month and day as the current calendar so we don’t get confused. The idea turned out to be so successful that, at ML’s suggestion, I even righted my avatar. I have worked extensively on my family genealogy; it goes back to before William the Conqueror. You would be surprised at some of the misinformation recorded through the centuries. And some of the true facts are just as strange.
So prearrange marriage before the baby is born. Back then no one knew if boy or girl.
Now days I like still to be a mystery. Some couples want to know right away.
What is going on here seems likely to be the result of the British Empire changing from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar in 1752. During one visit to England we saw a grave plate where the new versus old dates made it look like a child had died before he was born.

Clovia’s hair needs to stand on end for the complete effect of looking insane.

The change of calendars in 1752 was only an 11-day adjustment, I believe, so that wouldn’t be enough to account for this difference.

Sooo… maybe the child only lived ten days?
