This is where I layer my coats. A sweater if it isn’t too chilly and then a light coat to go over the top of the sweater if it gets a little colder and then, a heavy coat over the other two if it gets cold. That way, I can take one of them off if it gets a little warmer.
No real comment here due to the fact that I am a man Can’t relate to the women’s clothing issue. And also due to the fact that I always have a hoodie jacket with me year around. They just get thinner as the temperature warms up.
You should get a denim jacket. They come in all sizes, colors, weights, and levels of fanciness. I sold one once that was embroidered, embellished with studs and ribbons, and beaded! You DON’T want that one, it weighed over 10 pounds.
Looking at my coats, I only have one “winter coat cold” coat. All the rest are of the standard cold variety. But I live in Georgia where it doesn’t get terribly cold very often (although it does get cold) , so that’s why I only have one coat for when it’s really cold.

The larger the size, the shorter the sleeves. At least, in the ladies’ section of a really good address for clothing here in Munich.
Finally, the really nice saleslady recommended the men’s section. Bingo!

Don’t get me started on women’s clothing. Especially the puzzling and irksome phenomenon of three-quarter-length sleeves. What the. . .?!!!

How about a coat with a zip-out lining. Zip out for warmer, put in for colder.
