They obviously don’t live in a Homeowner Association. If you don’t do what the HA wants, you get fined. If you don’t pay the fines, you can end up losing your house. So, if you don’t want to rake the leaves, hire someone to do it…
I haven’t raked leaves in decades. Instead I run my mulching mower over them and either return the clippings to the soil, or, with the bag attached, add the clippings to the mulching pile. I do this with a few neighbors, too.

Yes, many insects eat destructive and other wise harmful or pesky insects such as chiggers and mites.

And then there is ‘snow mold’ that happens when snow lays on leaves for prolonged periods.. nasty stuff.
