Update on Dale

I’m sitting in the Er tonite. He saw a orthopedic surgeon today. The humerus is basically destroyed by cancer. Hence the extreme pain. She is doing surgery the second eek in January and will take out the cancer and fill the voids with bone cement. He will be pain free, but to get in the best possible shape for this I’m putting him in a nursing facility.

I’m exhausted as is my daughter and son in law.

Sorry I don’t have better news.

I wonder what the punishment is for tree larceny?

I too have a steering box leak. It has been going on for some years and yesterday I could see where it was coming from; where the shaft from the cab enters into the top of the box. On mine, and probably your Chevy as well, there is a hard plastic cover over the top that I will have to cut a slit to get it to slip back for a better look.

I seem to recall you using the word “dealership” in your talk about the rear suspension part. Is it not possible to use an independent shop for your vehicle work as dealers are the highest cost, and only a very few vehicle problems are dealer only fixes. Didn’t you have a friend who was doing your van work for better than usual rates ?

If the shop is willing and the box works fine other than leaking, new seals can be put on which I admit, having any professional outlet doing the work could just as easily cost as much as a straight replacement with a re manufactured unit and with installation should comfortably come to less than the $800 you stated.

This is what my ’99 Tahoe will take if I replace the whole unit and doing it myself .. will “burn” that bridge when I am on it. The shop will add some to the part when they order it in.

3:30 am and we are all back home, they wouldn’t admit him, he’s on chemo and the doctor said the hospital is full of germs.

The Doctor looked all of 15, no kidding! I wanted to ask him if he did his homework.

So I’m in my recliner and Dales on the couch. I didn’t think he could get up the stairs tonite.

Tomorrow he gets a clamshell brace on his arm, should help relieve the pain.
