Later, Charlie Brown laughed at him when he decided to be a white collar worker when he grew up.

Did a search on Pig-Pen. A drawing came up with the caption," I’m not dirty, ’m hygienically challenged".

So does everybody else in this strip, for the most part that is, Pig-Pen.

And that’s important.

PigPen has always been a favorite mine.

He is the god of dirt. You don’t want to mess with him.

Charlie Brown : Don’t think of it as dust. Think of it as maybe the soil of some great past civilization. Maybe the soil of ancient Babylon. It staggers the imagination. He may be carrying soil that was trod upon by Solomon, or even Nebuchudnezzar.

Wash your hands when you get home, Chuck.

If we have to run away from bullies and mean big kids Pig Pen will raise a dust storm and they’ll have to stop chasing us and rub their eyes. Our hero!

That IS a great start. My first real job was working at a gas station where I filled gas tanks (Service was our business) and worked on cars. I had just finished working on this older woman’s car. (She was in her 80s) She wanted to shake my hand in thanks for the good work that I had done. I said no as my hands were dirty and greasy. She said that there is nothing wrong or shameful in shaking a man’s hand dirty from hard work. She then shook my hand. That was 55 years ago. Nothing dirty about dirt. Dirty thoughts are another thing….

Interesting contrast here. One person is dirty on the outside. The other person is clean on the outside but is judgmental toward the other.

Pig Pen is actually one of the nicest Peanuts in the group!
