I worked for a company decades ago that tried to develop an automatic door unlocking device. The idea was you would have an emitter in your pocket and the door would recognize you and unlock before you turned the knob. In practice, we were never able to overcome the latency problem with fast-moving people who would bang into the door. The potential for litigation was beyond human comprehension, so the project was cancelled.
I think it’s intended for cats. They meow to be let in and out if no human is around or not. I don’t see how it works unless every door is equipped with an electronic lock and cats with opposable thumbs..
