Quilting can become an obsession leading to unmade dinners and stacks of fabric——some hidden in the trunk of the car. Oh, yes——beware.

I bought a new sewing machine,(expensive one) kept it in the trunk of my friends car for 2 days until i could sneak it in the house. Step son looked it up and told him how much I paid for it. He didn’t know it was 1/2 off because it was a demo. My niece has it now. I like the older one that was given to me better.

My mom has one that you give it some fabric and some measurements and it makes a dress or a shirt or whatever for you and then monograms it. Not like the old treadle sewing machines.

My wife bought a Singer that was marked down 75%. She found out why. It had so many options that it was almost impossible to use. It also had a timing belt drive that refused to stay in time. She finally gave it away and bought a very basic model that she enjoyed a lot more.

The first Christmas I had a steady job (1970) I bought my Mom a Singer. When I passed it on to a friend in 2008 after settling her estate, it still had two years to go on the warranty!

Holy Crap, I suddenly realized what this artwork reminds me of… I’ve always felt a hint of familiarity around the way the characters, especially the father and son, are drawn: Bud Sagendorf’s Popeye the Sailor.
