OK, I had to look back to see when the mini-Tom/Scotty/Rosemary enters and leaves the body. We are seeing them behave well when their soul is in their body, and behave like Tom and Scotty today when their soul is out of their body. This puts the entire past several years into context. The brief case. The pyromania. All of it makes sense now.
