I used to work hard, earn money, surrender it all to the government in taxes and live in abject poverty. Now I have cut out the middle man and go straight to abject poverty.
Next year he can not afford to go to Yosemite, and the year after that the Canadian Rockies. When you have nothing for vacation, it doesn’t matter how reasonable the costs are to go somewhere, because you still can’t.
I could go to Mexico in about 5 hours. ± an hour, depending on choice of border crossings. Can they actually refuse me re-entry to the US for refusing to pay them to get a passport? I thought I lived in a free America, but they’re at least going to fine me if I try. Immigrants are good people. Gypsies rock. Borders bite.
Supersurfer: Lived there for eight years, yes, and many parts of the back country are still “great”, as in many of our National Parks. I like New Zealand, but there IS still a lot for folks to see, at less cost, here at home.

Sure you can afford to go to Mexico. Just don’t bring your papers when you come back, & you’ll be set for life!
