After experiencing this (with maybe a few worthless “hints” from HR), I put together a comprehensive list of things for incoming hires with minor items like “How the heck do I order business cards?” and “How do I get a computer set up with access to real programs that I need to do company business?”
I’ve been at jobs for 6 months where my boss has not spoken to me or told me what to work on. But I always say if the Check don’t bounce why complain
Happened to me. The Boss was out of town. my office was an old radio sound booth. with a desk and a chair…not even a lamp. Ok. I’ll just sit here in the dark.
I experienced that at a work place I ultimately loved and from where I eventually retired. They just said ’ learn by doing’ which is what I did, but it’s a lot harder to get your bearings.
