    Well, that question raises an interesting point. When Frank King originated the strip, the places and characters seemed to be patterned after his hometown of Tomah, Wisconsin. But during the Dick Moores era, the characters seemed to become influenced by Moores’ adopted home state of North Carolina, which is (or was) also home to Jim Scancarelli.

    Hmmm. With what you can see of Pvt. Beauregard… he looks a lot like Slim!

    And by the way, the rendering here of General Lee looks nothing like any I have ever seen.

    And the original artwork showed Lee’s uniform was blue. Nice of the GoComics folks to adjust the color…..
