It might be targeted advertising or it might just be coincidence, but I’ve been watching the lasted few days and I always get ads for cat products on your page. This always worries me after I started getting ads for baby products about five years ago. Those guys at Google are good! They knew something before we did!

We endured that for a few weeks after the sudden death of our beloved chartreuse Silver (only 10 years old [diagnosed heart failure]), found her in our garden when she was only half a year old – abandoned, no claims on her (we asked at the Munich animal shelter and waited for the time they recommended, but were allowed to keep her already because they were flooded with autumn-kittens then) – she helped us through really tough times (many deaths: parents, sibling [who I had taken care of for years]), aunt, uncle, our tom-cat; other stress), hunted mice, was the sweetest cat… sigh… (tears running)

Now, we have a rescue (again): We could bare the catlessness for no more than a few weeks. Freedom is overrated.

After a not-so-nice encounter with a private cat-shelter I found a cry for help in an online-ad (looking for Korean musical instruments, finding kittens): Cat that doesn’t get along with the other cats. I called, asked if it was still there – it was. Counter-question: if we had any experience with cats – well; life-long and over 20 years without a break then…

The cat (Romy) was 11 months old back then and at her fourth place:

    Place of birth

Family with little children and dog (she still hates children and growls whenever she sees a dog)

Woman with cat allergy(!) who thought medication would help and where the cat wasn’t allowed to jump on furniture and worse…

The young man who had warned her who already had two cats that seemed to tolerate the new cat but didn’t (and maybe vice-versa; Romy doesn’t like other cats) why he had to keep her separate in his large and well-lit kitchen but wanted her to be happy with people who could take better care of her.

    Those suckers are us…

She fell in love with us immediately. The feeling is mutual.

    (too long; continued)

Ninja will always be there in the corner of your eye. Then, when you turn to look at her, she has disappeared. It’s her way of being being with you.

They certainly become a family member and part of a home.

Over the years, I have lost a lot of pets, from 4 legged children (dogs) to junior citizens (cats). It is always hard to see them go.

There are times when it feels like our late Toby is sleeping in his favorite spot by my shoulder. Oddly. none of the others will sleep there.

OK, as promised, I avoided reading your strip all week, and just now went back to read them all at once.

You made me cry. You made me finish off my last box of Kleenex, and I’m not going to the store until tomorrow (thank the good lord for tp).

You are VERY GOOD at this. Keep up the good work! But now Amber, Jason, Harley, Nick, and Imp seem to be prowling around at the corners of my vision… They were all very jealous cats.
