You could always get a large dog carrier and take her with you. That way, she’ll have plenty of space and you can put more food and toys in there for her. Plus, she won’t be lonely.
This is one of those times when you wish the cat understood you and you could explain what is going on. Toonces is in a fragile state and will see it as abandonment…….not to add to your angst.
Long ago, when I worked long hours and occasionally traveled on weekends (rarely), I would leave Amber at home with a REALLY large bowl of food and the bathroom tap dripping (she WOULD NOT drink from a bowl). She never seemed to notice I was gone, didn’t over-eat, and got annoyed when I woke her up to tell her I was home.
Maybe I worked too much.
I couldn’t leave her in a kennel, as she HATED most people and wasn’t fond of other cats. Never even HEARD of pet sitters back then. And bring her with? Oh, she would sing the heart-breaking (loud) song of her people for the entire weekend.
The world revolved around Amber, and she did not let anyone forget this.
I lost her back in 2004, age 19, and I still miss her.

We have three foxes, two Pomeranians who think they’re foxes, and two horses – one of whom is a Belgian. We don’t need a kennel, we need a zoo.
